Session
Raising Early-Stage Capital Where Trust Is Scarce
In 2013 the World Bank projected that households in developing economies could deploy up to $96 billion a year through crowdfunding by 2025. The conventional response to a funding gap is more supply, and Pakistan tried it: its incubators grew from three to roughly twenty-two in under a decade.
Based on doctoral research at the University of Aberdeen, this session explains why supply was never the binding constraint. It introduces the Crowdfunding Ecosystem Process Model, the twelve constraints stakeholders identified, and who has to act before capital will flow.
For policymakers, ecosystem builders, investors and founders in emerging markets, it offers a structural account of why adding money does not fix a market that does not yet trust itself.
Format: keynote or talk, 30–45 minutes; workshop version available on request. Audience: founders, investors, executives and ecosystem builders.
