Renesas is working to expand OSS-based platforms for automotive systems by collaborating with AGL (Automotive Grade Linux) and other Linux Foundation projects such as Xen, Zephyr, Yocto, and the Linux kernel. We support AGL’s “code first” policy by offering a unified development environment to build practical reference platforms for Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

Automotive systems are shifting from legacy RTOS to OSS-based environments using Linux, virtualization, and real-time OSs. SDVs require modular design, secure software updates, and system integration. These needs make OSS collaboration essential.

To support this shift, Renesas provides open hardware platforms and tools that work across multiple LF projects. This enables developers and companies to build and test systems more consistently, reducing fragmentation and improving efficiency.

This session will introduce Renesas’s collaborations with OSS communities and how we help build SDV platforms using our latest SoC, the R-Car V4H, as a reference board. We will also share ideas on the future of open development in automotive.
