Data skills to pay the bills: Debunking Coding Proficiency in Python and SQL

In many data professions, coding proficiency is crucial for success. However, it is often unclear how much code knowledge is necessary to embark on these career paths. This presentation aims to demystify the minimum level of coding competency required specifically in Python and SQL for aspiring Data Engineers and Data Analytics Engineers.
During this session, we will delve into the fundamental coding concepts that every data professional should be familiar with. We will start by exploring the Python programming language, focusing on essential topics such as variables, data types, control structures (if-else statements, loops), functions, and libraries commonly used in data engineering and analysis. Through practical examples and code snippets, we will illustrate the practical application of these concepts.
Next, we will shift our focus to SQL, the standard language for interacting with data.
By the end of this session, you will have a clear understanding of the essential coding competencies needed to embark on a career in the world of Data!
