Why most tech communities die (and how to make sure yours doesn't)
Running a tech community doesn't require being a management expert. It requires concrete tactics, knowing about event formats, and learning from people who've already tried.
In this talk, I share what I have experienced, seen, and heard in 20+ years participating in communities and 15+ years running them ([it's true](https://www.rauljimenez.info/docs/about-me/open-culture), I'm pretty old 👴🏻 🤣).
I'll combine lessons gathered by collaborating with other organizers through [Community Builders](https://combuilderses.github.io/), open spaces, and other gatherings with community leaders ([like these](https://github.com/orgs/ComBuildersES/discussions/categories/encuentros)), and things I have learned while [contributing to an **open directory of 400+ tech communities**](https://combuilderses.github.io/communities-directory/en/) in Spain.
I'll share tips & ideas to attract new people, keep them engaged, encourage others to step up and lead events, fund your community without burning out, and avoid the whole thing collapsing when one person leaves.
My goal is for you to walk away with resources and ideas to spin up a community, or help boost an existing one.
