Session
Fabric Governance in Practice – From Setup to Oversight
With the rise of Microsoft Fabric, data teams gain powerful new tools—but also face fresh governance challenges. In this session, we’ll explore key elements for effectively managing and governing your Fabric environment.
We’ll discuss the workspace setup. There're so many ways how to do this, but how do you structure workspaces in a scalable, maintainable way? We’ll dive into data security—what controls are available to protect sensitive information and manage access? We’ll also take a closer look at data constraints, particularly how they behave differently with Delta tables, and what that means for maintaining data quality.
Monitoring is another key focus: how can you assess usage and capacity utilization based on reporting insights? This is really important to identify your capacity need (and costs). Finally, we’ll cover broader data governance options and practices within Fabric.
This session is meant for data engineers, platform admins, and architects who want to ensure their Fabric environment is secure, efficient, and future-proof.
Objectives
• Learn how to structure and govern workspaces in Microsoft Fabric to support collaboration, security, and scalability.
• Understand the impact of Delta tables on data constraints and how to apply them effectively for maintaining data integrity.
• Gain insights into monitoring usage and capacity to optimize performance and manage costs within Fabric environments.
Prior Knowledge
Experience with building data platform solutions.
