ICT Greenhouse Gas Emissions Are Exploding – How OS Communities Should Engage and Contribute Their
Lancaster University estimated ICT to cause 2.1–3.9% of global emissions – software spews out between 1,222 and 2,270 million tons of CO2 – every year.
I'll explain the importance of the matter, how to approach it, and what we can do about the emissions. I'll show ways to mitigate with measuring the environmental impact, reducing waste, and minimising software.
After the talk, you'll think “oh crap” or “yes, we can do it”. You want to change the way you think, code, design software – for the best of the planet.
I've written Green Code book that explains these matters on a broader level.
