Outside In: Building a Customer Portal with Power Pages, From Zero to Production
Your Dynamics 365 data doesn't stop being useful at the edge of your organization. Customers need to check case status. Partners need to submit requests. Vendors need to update records. And right now, most of that interaction happens through email chains, spreadsheets, and phone calls because standing up a portal felt like too much to take on.
This session changes that.
We'll walk through a real implementation: a customer-facing portal built on Power Pages, connected to Dynamics 365 and Dataverse, from the first blank canvas to a working, secured, production-ready site. No hand-waving. No skipping the hard parts.
You'll see how Power Pages connects to the Dataverse tables you already have, how table permissions and web roles control what external users can see and do, and how to build page structure that survives real use. We'll cover the decisions that look small in the design phase and cause real pain after go-live: authentication configuration, record ownership for external users, and what happens when your portal needs to write data back to D365 and not just read it.
The demo is built from a real client scenario. The architecture is one you can adapt. And the build path follows a crawl/walk/run approach so you leave with a clear picture of what to stand up first, what to layer in next, and what to save for phase two.
If you've been curious about Power Pages but weren't sure where to start, or you've started and gotten stuck, this session is your map.
