In this talk, Jason will discuss what it takes to be an actual cyber operator in 2023 through the lens of modernizing incident response. In an age when IR is so much more than EDR tools and bitcoin transfers, the modern incident responder must be ready to comply with everything from Office of Foreign Asset Control sanctions to forensic evidence handling and insurance workflows. The contemporary response team needs to be multi-lingual, legally savvy, and ultimately consist of creative threat hunters that go beyond the basic of response. This talk will walk through what it takes to be a true cyber emergency operator in 2023.
