In Microsoft Fabric, we face a similar situation with Import and Direct Lake. However, composite models with Direct Lake allow us to combine both connectivity modes within the same semantic model, taking advantage of the strengths of each approach.

In this session, we will explore when this approach makes sense, which data should remain in memory and which data can be worked with directly from OneLake, creating more flexible hybrid solutions.
