STEAM is an area where many students may not traditionally see themselves; it is crucial to design experiences that increase their self-awareness, sense of belonging, and self-efficacy. In this poster, we share insights from teaching a short course on artificial intelligence. We find that modeling SEL for students can have a profound effect on their engagement in STEAM activities.
