Session
Build your own confetti cannon with a Raspberry Pi
Do you love maker projects? Have you always wanted a confetti cannon powered by a Raspberry Pi? Do you want to see Jim get in trouble and have to vacuum after his session? Then this is the talk for you!
As a part of Jims day job he has to work the booth at conferences, and think of fun ways to engage the attendees who come to the booth. One idea he had after talking to friends at a robotics company was a confetti cannon - try out our product and make the confetti cannon fire!
In this session, Jim works through how to build and power this confetti cannon. He will dig into both the hardware and software, looking at the Raspberry Pi as a powerful single board computer, the hardware needed to power the cannon, and the code to make it work. This code is a mixture of Python, leveraging the Raspberry Pi as a full Linux computer, and a cloud-powered robotics platform.
By the end of this session you will not only have all the knowledge you need to replicate this and build your own confetti cannon or other cloud-powered robotic device, but you might even get a chance to try it out and watch Jim suffer the ire of the cleaning team.
