From version control to automated testing, applying DataOps principles to Power BI semantic models can be a challenge. In this session I show you how to overcome these challenges by using version control and building automated tests using free templates.

In the first half of the session, we'll introduce DataOps and then use Visual Studio Code and DAX Query View to build tests and run tests locally. I'll show techniques for quickly building tests for a data model and how to test schema/data drift.

In the second half of the session, I'll demonstrate how to commit the code to Azure DevOps and walk through a Continuous Integration pipeline. I'll cover Git terminology and how to extract metrics to evaluate your development process.

Session participants will also be provided free, open-source templates to use on their current or next Power BI project.
