Designing Quality from the First Test

In this hands-on session, participants will learn how to apply the principles of Test-Driven Development (TDD) while pairing with AI-powered tools to accelerate test creation and improve code quality.
Through guided coding challenges, developers will start from the red-green-refactor loop and explore how AI can assist in writing meaningful tests, suggesting implementations, and reinforcing strong design habits.
The workshop focuses on helping participants gain confidence using AI as a collaborator and enhancing, not replacing, human judgment; to produce well-designed, maintainable code.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

- Understand the TDD workflow and apply it to build a small REST API from scratch
- Use AI tools to generate initial test scaffolding and refine test cases through context and feedback
- Practice the red-green-refactor loop to validate both test quality and implementation correctness
- Identify design and testing smells introduced by AI-generated code
- Reflect on responsible and ethical use of AI in software development
