Fabric 101: A Guided Tour for People Who Just Got Access
Microsoft Fabric puts data engineering, warehousing, real-time analytics, data science and Power BI in one place — which is wonderful, and overwhelming.
This session is the guided tour I give every new team: what OneLake actually is (and why "one copy of data" matters), when a Lakehouse vs a Warehouse vs just Power BI is the right tool, what notebooks and pipelines do, where semantic models fit, and how capacities and licensing work in plain language. No prior Fabric experience needed.
We'll navigate the real portal the whole time — no slides pretending to be software — and build a tiny end-to-end example: file in, transformation, report out. You leave knowing which 20% of Fabric you need first, and a map for the rest.
Key takeaways:
1) A plain-language map of every major Fabric workload.
2) Lakehouse vs Warehouse vs Power BI — simple decision rules.
3) A tiny end-to-end example you can rebuild in your own tenant.
Level: Beginner (100). Duration: 45-60 min. Target audience: teams and professionals with new Fabric access; managers welcome. Can be delivered in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Live portal navigation — demo-first, minimal slides.
