SQL Without Fear: Your First Queries, Explained Like a Human

SQL looks intimidating from the outside — all caps, strange words, scary error messages. But underneath, it's just a polite way of asking questions about data, and you already know how to ask questions.

In this beginner-friendly session we'll learn the core of SQL the way I teach it in real classrooms: starting from plain-language business questions ("who are our top customers? what did we sell last month?") and translating them, step by step, into SELECT, WHERE, JOIN and GROUP BY. Every concept lands with a live example, every mistake is welcome (I'll make a few on purpose — watching errors get fixed is how you learn), and by the end the wall of text becomes a set of small, friendly building blocks.

No installs needed to follow along — a free practice environment link is provided.

Key takeaways:
1) The six SQL keywords that answer 90% of everyday questions.
2) A mental model for JOINs you won't forget.
3) A free practice environment and exercise sheet to continue after the session.

Level: Beginner (100). Duration: 45-60 min, adaptable to 20-30 min. Target audience: anyone starting with data — analysts, Excel users, career changers. Can be delivered in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Demo-driven; no installs required for attendees.
