Rook: Container Storage Orchestration on Kubernetes with Ceph
This is a hands-on tutorial or live demo walking through the use of Ceph via Rook, a storage orchestration service for Kubernetes. Starting with a bare Kubernetes cluster on bare metal, we will walk through setting up Ceph using the Rook Kubernetes operator across the bare metal SSD resources. We will touch on how that storage is presented to Kubernetes clusters and managed through the operator framework. We will then run through some scaling up/down of the underlying storage infrastructure as well as failing storage devices to showcase recovery.
Each attendee will be provided with a bare-metal cluster to run through this workshop. Some Linux command line experience is expected but no previous experience with Kubernetes, Ceph, or Rook is needed. Attendees will need a laptop with an SSH client and a web browser.
