I just wanted to write code: becoming a leader in a tech team

At some point in your career, you don’t apply for leadership. It just shows up. People start looking at you in meetings, asking for your opinion, and expecting you to “handle things”, even though your title still says developer.

This talk is about that quiet shift and what happens when your impact starts extending beyond the code you write. Through real stories, mistakes, and lessons learned, we’ll explore how developers become leaders, why some of the habits that made us successful stop serving us, and what it takes to guide a team without formal authority.

Expect practical insights on creating ownership, building trust, giving feedback, influencing decisions, and helping others grow. Just very practical lessons I wish someone had taught me years earlier.
