The strong alliance SAX-QT Quantum Saxony paves the way for bringing quantum research to application

Quantum technologies constitute a rapidly evolving interdisciplinary field that leverages the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics to develop innovative tools for science and industry. These technologies span a broad range of research areas, all of which are represented in Saxony. The Saxon Quantum Technologies Research Network, established in December 2025, is forming a robust association for quantum technologies by uniting research institutions, universities, Clusters of Excellence, and industry partners. The network remains open to new collaborators from both academia and industry. Research activities focus on quantum materials, sensor technology, quantum communication, quantum computing, and education, with an emphasis on transferring advancements to microelectronics, mechanical engineering, and production applications. Saxony is recognized as a leading quantum research region in Germany and is integrated within one of the most concentrated semiconductor and information and communication technology ecosystems in Europe. The initiative prioritizes resource-efficient, environmentally sustainable, and energy-saving quantum materials and technologies developed in Saxony.
