AI Productivity Paradox: A Report from the Front Lines of AI Adoption
I run a software consultancy where we've gone deep on AI, and most of our team has been heavy on it for over a year. Here's what we've learned: it's powerful, but not all upside.
At the surface is the paradox of feeling faster without actually shipping faster. Go deeper and you find your junior employees never building their underlying skill, because the AI is doing the reps for them. Your senior employees, meanwhile, are worn down from evaluating AI output all day instead of producing their own. Your team starts to trust the AI so much that their own judgment slips. Work with it long enough and a kind of brain rot sets in, along with a new impatience for human-paced work.
This session is about being honest about the tradeoffs you're already making, spotting them before they become structural, and getting ahead of them while it's still possible. It's a talk for leaders who've gone all-in on AI and want to know the road bumps to expect before they hit them.
