It is projected that by setting up internal platform engineering teams, 80% of large software engineering companies will be able to provide reusable tools, services, and components for application delivery. The ultimate goal of platform engineering is to resolve the core issue of cooperation between software developers and operators. But wasn’t this the pledge of DevOps? It seems it wasn’t sufficient, as developers often face cognitive overload in their interactions and software delivery processes.

In this talk, I will outline my approach to assembling a team of what we call platform engineers, discussing their roles and responsibilities, the obstacles they encounter, and where to locate these uncommon professionals.
