Build Better Semantic Models Faster: AI, Automation, and the New Tabular Editor CLI

The way we build semantic models is changing quickly. In this session, we'll take you on a hands-on journey from traditional manual development to AI-assisted and agentic workflows, and show you exactly how Tabular Editor 3 powers every step of that journey.

First, we'll introduce the AI Assistant in Tabular Editor 3: an integrated, bring-your-own-model experience that helps you write DAX, generate C# scripts, create Best Practice Rules, analyze errors, and get guidance - all without leaving your development environment.

Then we go further. We'll introduce the brand-new Tabular Editor CLI, a semantic model command-line tool built for humans but optimized for agents. Designed to run on Windows, Mac, and Linux, the CLI enables powerful automation scenarios: CI/CD pipelines, scripted bulk operations, and agentic development with coding agents such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot. We'll walk through practical examples showing how agents can use the CLI to read, query, and modify semantic models, doing in minutes what would otherwise take hours.

Whether you're looking to automate repetitive tasks, integrate semantic model development into your DevOps workflows, or explore agentic development in practice, this session provides the tools, concepts, and demos to get started.

You'll leave with:
• A clear mental model of AI-assisted vs. agentic development and when to use each
• Hands-on insight into the Tabular Editor 3 AI Assistant
• A first look at the new Tabular Editor CLI and how to use it for automation and agentic workflows
