Modelling sparse, multidimensional, interconnected data in a database
I will introduce you to the principles of data modelling in a database. I will explain how choosing the right database model can ease data retrieval, identify patterns and aid machine learning. I will discuss the strengths and limitations by some of the prominent ways of storing the data as,
1) an MS-Excel file
2) tables in SQL-type database
3) inter-connected entities in a graph database
4) a multi-model database (which is a combination of tables and graph)
By the end of this talk, you will be able to decide how to identify a strategy which is best suited for the questions you want to address with the data you have.
