This session explores the growing environmental and architectural challenges created by large-scale cloud-based AI workloads. With data centers now consuming a significant share of global electricity, AI’s carbon footprint is becoming a key sustainability concern, especially in regulated, high-volume sectors like FinTech.
I present why the industry must shift from cloud-heavy inference toward Edge AI, where models run directly on devices instead of continuously sending data to centralized servers. This approach dramatically reduces energy consumption while offering practical benefits for real-time systems.
