The use of a service mesh in cloud-native architectures can not only increase resilience and security, but also observability.

However, there are some pitfalls that need to be taken into account in order to integrate gateways and (envoy) sidecars of the service mesh into traces.

This talk provides a rough outline of the topic and a deep dive into how the individual components need to be configured in order to obtain detailed traces that make root cause analysis (almost) child's play.
