Guidelines for Achieving Project Release Maturity

The Project Release Guidelines initiative was developed to define clear guidelines and best practices for managing project releases, aligned with CNCF project maturity expectations. It covers key areas such as versioning, branching strategies, release artifacts, security considerations, common governance patterns and communication processes. By providing such guidance, projects can benefit by understanding the signals that indicate a project is ready to cut a release, which release practices are essential versus optional at early stages, and how release processes should evolve as projects mature toward Graduation.

We’ll explore the Project Release Guidelines initiative in depth including facilitating a dynamic discussion with attendees and show how mature CNCF projects, like Kubernetes and Helm, align to these principles and can be used as a model to implement these approaches within your own projects.
