Session
From 100 applications to 1 platform
Historically, organizations have tried to solve their problems by buying applications and developing supporting systems around these. Over time, this often leads to a lot of applications, with a high maintenance cost, low performance, and limited scalability. They also pose security risks and hinder innovation and customer satisfaction. A big Norwegian organization faced these issues with its IT portfolio, consisting of several legacy core systems hosted on-premise, and many supporting applications built around these.
In this session, you will learn how this organization transformed its IT portfolio to a modern platform in the cloud. We will look into how the process allowed us to make this transformation, while still doing business as usual. This takes us through some of the strategies used to deal with the short- and long-term changes such as abstracting away the core systems in preparation for new systems, to a technical overview of the new tech stack that continuously sped up the process.
This session is aimed at developers and architects who want to learn from a real-life case study of a legacy system modernization. You will gain insights into the best practices, challenges and lessons learned from this process.
