Bring Your Own Model: GitHub Copilot with Microsoft Foundry, OpenRouter and Local LLMs
Since June, every Copilot interaction is billed by tokens, and the model behind the session is the biggest cost lever. The good news: you can pick that model yourself. This talk covers the four ways to bring your own model into GitHub Copilot: directly from a provider, locally, via OpenRouter, and through a deployment in Microsoft Foundry. The focus is on Foundry: your own tenant, your own region, billing as regular Azure consumption, and why the serverless filter in the model catalog is the decision that matters most.
