The LEGO Way to Kubernetes: Breaking It Down, Rebuilding It Stronger

This highly interactive, LEGO-inspired session explores K8s through a technical lens. Picture a junior engineer breaking a complex LEGO structure—losing a crucial piece in the process—and a senior engineer stepping in to identify the missing block and reconstruct the system. In this session, we’ll treat K8s as a system of interconnected components, deliberately dismantling a fully functional cluster to simulate real-world failures.

Using audience-driven inputs via voting, we’ll explore scenarios like stopping critical services, corrupting etcd data, disabling kubelet on nodes, or breaking CNI configurations. Each failure will be diagnosed and resolved live using tools such as kubectl for cluster diagnostics, etcdctl for state restoration, and kubeadm for rebuilding.

This session equips K8s practitioners with practical troubleshooting techniques, deepens architectural knowledge, and demonstrates how K8s can be rebuilt from failure scenarios—just like piecing back a LEGO masterpiece.
