Session
Digging through the archives
Some of the best scoops have originated from spending time digging through archival records in collections held by universities, libraries and other institutions. This panel will discuss how reporters can use archival materials to produce high-impact investigations and also add depth to reporting on a wide range of beats. Participants will come away with a practical toolkit for identifying relevant archival materials, navigating finding aids, and understanding document scanning tools that can assist with research. Specific types of archival records that can be used for health, environmental and city land use investigations also will be highlighted.
