GitHub Pages: More Than Just a README
Publishing technical documentation, a project website, or a small web application can involve more work configuring hosting than creating content. GitHub Pages lets you start from a repository and make publishing part of your development workflow.
In this session, we’ll explore GitHub Pages’ built-in capabilities and Jekyll support before moving to custom build and deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions. We’ll examine how static site generators such as Hugo and MkDocs transform Markdown, templates, and configuration into websites, and how a frontend hosted on Pages can consume external APIs.
You’ll leave knowing how to configure a publishing pipeline and evaluate when GitHub Pages can simplify hosting for documentation, websites, and frontends—and when your requirements call for additional services or a different platform.
