Session
Fast AI, Slow Thinking: Why the Pause Matters
AI tools answer in seconds. But speed isn't the same as judgment.
This session explores the gap between instant AI responses and thoughtful human decisions. Through structured reflection and peer discussion, participants will identify their own decision patterns when working with AI - and discover when they need to pause.
Drawing on research in automation bias, cognitive psychology, and expert decision-making, we'll examine three critical patterns: how we over-rely on automated systems under pressure, why AI's confident tone creates an illusion of understanding, and what separates novice from expert judgment when using AI.
You won't leave with prompting tips or tool demos. You'll leave with something harder to build and more valuable: awareness of your judgment signals and a practical framework for knowing when to trust, verify, or reject AI-generated answers.
Format: Interactive reflection session combining individual work, pair discussions, small group pattern discovery, and research-grounded synthesis. Minimal slides, maximum thinking.
