At a time when software products are becoming increasingly diverse and complex, the user experience (UX) is crucial to the success of a product. But how can companies ensure that their software is not only functional, but also meets user expectations? The key to this is UX evaluation. Although the importance of UX is well known, evaluation processes are often neglected in times of high deadline pressure or because of supposedly high costs. The long-term, often hidden costs of poor usability are underestimated, which often far exceed the investment in a thorough UX evaluation. The focus of this presentation is a well-founded introduction to the world of UX evaluation. It will highlight why a systematic UX evaluation not only leads to more satisfied customers, but also offers clear economic advantages. Finally, the focus is on the analysis of extensive text data, such as observation protocols and interview results, which are generated during a qualitative UX evaluation. Innovative tools, especially large language models such as ChatGPT, promise enormous increases in efficiency here. Their targeted use can not only speed up the evaluation process, but also increase the quality of the insights gained.
