A Playbook for Generating IBCS-Inspired Reproducible Fabric Apps for Controlling and Finance
Fabric Apps are the new shining star for modern interactive data visualisation in Microsoft Fabric. But more often than not, you do not need a fancy, flashy app. You need a reliable reporting workhorse that follows clear standards. For finance and controlling, a well-known standard is IBCS, the International Business Communication Standards.
In this session, I will show how a playbook of skills, resources, templates and markdown files turns a mockup built on your semantic model into a modern, reproducible, IBCS-inspired Fabric App. Coding agents build, test and deploy the app, guided by proven chart patterns and clear rules for design, interaction and business logic. The goal is not to generate one app, but a process you can repeat.
You will learn which setup was used and what skills and resources you need. We will compare the approach with classic Power BI reports for finance and controlling and look at where Fabric Apps add flexibility: zooming from one chart into small multiples, drilling into driver trees and showing details on demand.
But we will not only look at the bright side. We will talk about the trade-offs: governance, performance and the risk of moving calculation logic from the semantic model into app code.
And yes, we will build and deploy an app live on stage, from mockup to running Fabric App. Nothing is prerecorded. No risk, no fun.
