Exploring Cloud-Native Alternatives in Azure
The cloud-native initiative emphasizes maintaining cloud-agnostic principles, effectively managing technical debt, and reducing the gap between local development and cloud deployment. Selecting the right Azure services aligned with these goals is crucial for building scalable, resilient, and agile software.
In this session, I'll explore various Azure services designed for cloud-native applications, comparing their strengths, weaknesses, and optimal use cases. Specifically, I’ll examine:
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS): Ideal for complex, large-scale container orchestration.
• Azure Container Apps: Simplicity and ease of use for containerized workloads.
• Azure Functions: Event-driven, serverless computing for quick scaling.
• Azure App Service: Versatile platform service for web applications and APIs.
I will also address important non-functional considerations, including team experience, adaptability to new technologies, and other factors significantly influencing technology decisions. Attendees will gain insights into each service's nuanced differences and practical applications, empowering them to make informed decisions for their next cloud-native .NET project.
