FAREWELL SPEECH TO MR PRESIDENT, MUHAMMADU HARDO ADAMU BUHARI

FAREWELL SPEECH TO MR PRESIDENT, MUHAMMADU HARDO ADAMU BUHARI.

Written by Msughter Abraham Gbor

At the beginning of every sunrise, in our minds we often bear that a time will come when there would be it’s setting down, and today Mr. President, your reign as “Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR)” is not far from this reality.

In the moonlight of your regime, which began May 29th, 2015 to this very day, May 28th, 2023. We have purviewed the struggles, the plights and the quest of uniting a one Great Nation, a one United Nigeria. And without doubts, has proven or rather shown a slight actualization.

Meanwhile, in merits of your patience, strength, resilience, effort and commitments to the Nation, we have experienced the outpouring of your love in service to and for the people of Nigeria.

Your legislative reform (electoral act), executive orders, infrastructures, rail, roads, air and seaports, special grid intervention, housing, digital economy, etc. And, how your humble-self and administration fought the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic to a stand still with the help of international bodies. Time will fail me to list all the wondrous and transforming things you’ve done for Our dear country Nigeria.

And whether there appears to be much “lost than wins”, we collectively thank you for everything you’ve put in place to foster, to build, to withhold, to uphold and to resuscitate a Great and United Nation that we all hope, dream and desire.

To sharpen edges and for a fact, Mr. President, we are all aware that GDP (Gross Domestic Product) index in 2015 was 493 billion USD but has now grown evenly to 506.6 billion USD in 2023, we sincerely commend your 8years posterity and plaud every respective member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) “Change” administration.

Your excellence sir, The subtext of this context is not to call a spear an arrow, but to call it what it should be called.

To start with and most heartily, A lot of killings and massacres have happened in the course of these 8years of this administration, over 63,111 people, young and old have been sent to their graves, the highest ever recorded since the onslaught of civilian regime way back in 1999 (I stand to be corrected).

Imperatively, lives and properties were left to dwell under the wings and mercies of insurgence, Herdmens, unknown gunmen, just to mention a few.

The system watched and overlooked by doing little or nothing as scavengers rampaged the Nation day and night, we all quivered in petrification that the end is come.

The system budget deficits rise to 370% resulting to over N47 Trillion yet has denied and deprived the common man, a common Nigeria his rights to welfare, hospitality, peace, freedom, equity, equality and justice, and their willing hearts to perceive the “Change” you promised, ‘say’ the “Change” your party manifesto postulated.

More also, the economic inflation rate index in 2015 sir, was 9.01% but has now risen to 22.22% to this very day, without defamations or abuse, dollar rate in 2015 was N197.8763 has skyrocketed to over N459.4294 currently in 2023, with a debt of N43 Trillion, this of course sir, has left the pen drought of ink to penning down the level of growth we all hoped the “change” would bring or rejuvenate.

Furthermore, unemployment rate in 2015 was as minimal as 9.9%, today sir, has transcended to 41%, proving that the employment rate in the country during this period was less addressed despite its role in economic revitalization, and human empowerment, without having in mind that a common or an average Nigerian live below a dollar per day, how pathetic!

To the bottom line, there is more to say about the “shambolic” electoral system, more to be thankful about, more to question, more to scold, more to believe, more to hope for, more to live for, more to desire, more to condemn and much more to accept with gratitude to you Mr. President.

Today sir, myself and every well-meaning Nigerian bid farewell to you our dear president, our father and grand father.

On a close remark sir, i want to appeal to the incoming “selected” known to say “elected” administration to look into these matters that has eaten deep our economic prosperity, unity, peace, equality, tranquility and justice, and the interest of the Nation should surpass the interest of their selfish or personal ambitions.

Let them be mindful that a nation that does not do justice, shall not know peace.

Thank you Mr. President, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Amen
