GreenScrolling 101: How to get the audience to embrace your going greener initiative or solutions
A story about how Christopher Newport University (CNU) took the idea to make their campus community an even more beautiful and sustainable community—and how I embraced it and ran. Learn how I, Nalin Theodore, as a first-year college student, started from helping out with cleaning up single-use disposable trash at football stadiums with my ultimate frisbee team to creating a project video examining students’ insights into the Reuzzi reusable to-go boxes and how they are good for the environment. Through this opportunity, I analyzed what CNU was doing through its sustainability initiatives, which began with the Going Greener campaign, promoting CNU’s commitment to sustainability. Part of this campaign was the 0-waste football initiative, which was a topic for my qualitative research methods class that I took on with a group of 3 other peers to analyze behavior at home games, as well as analyzing student experiences about the visual impact of what this initiative does for our school and community. By my senior year, I had the opportunity to bring my ideas beyond CNU by working with Dr. Cheryl Schnitzer, Founder and CEO of Reuzzi. I will share my creative ideas and videos to promote sustainability across all campuses. My videos are not only funny and entertaining, but also necessary for the current discussion of reducing waste across all institutions. In this session, I will share my findings through the process of what I am accomplishing with qualitative interviews and video to inspire students and professionals in the industry to do the same.
A great way of learning about how to promote sustainability initiatives, learning new ideas and strategies to tailor to a broader audience in the community. As well as what resources are available to promote a campaign!
