Reporting As Code: Data Visualization meets Data Engineering to Create Reporting Magic

Since the announcement of the enhanced Power BI Report format (PBIR), developers have been eager to maximize its potential. This new format organizes visuals, pages, and bookmarks into individual JSON files within a structured folder system. Traditional Power BI Report development involves meticulous manual work, precision, and validation to ensure accuracy and visual appeal for report consumers. But what if we could combine these efforts with automation, maintaining precision and validation while enhancing visual appeal?

In this session, you will learn how to:
*Create a visual dictionary to make data visualization best practices reusable.
*Utilize a visual dictionary to update an existing Power BI report.
*Automate the enforcement of a visual dictionary on existing reports.
*Automatically create a new report using a visual dictionary.

As a collaborative team of a data visualization expert (Justine) and a data engineer (Parcifal), we bring a unique perspective to this session, highlighting the synergy between these disciplines in building successful Power BI Reports. Our goal is to first familiarize you with the capabilities of data visualization best practices. Then, we'll demonstrate how these practices integrate with the new enhanced Power BI report format. Finally, you'll learn how to implement these techniques in your daily work.
