Modeling Power BI with Code: Unlocking the Power of Semantic Link

Ready to build and manage your Power BI data models with code instead of endless clicking? In this hands-on session, you'll get to know Semantic Link – the connection between your Power BI semantic model and programmable workflows in notebooks.

We’ll start with the basics: what is Semantic Link, and why might you choose it over something like Power Query? Then we’ll dive straight into practice. You’ll learn how to:

load data from source systems,

read and explore your semantic model,

and add new measures, tables, or relationships – all through code.

Together, we’ll build a complete data model from A to Z using Semantic Link. You’ll see how to structure and automate your modeling process with notebooks, including best practices and common pitfalls.

This session is perfect for BI professionals, data engineers, and anyone looking to model more efficiently within Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or Azure Notebooks. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to use Semantic Link to work faster, smarter, and at scale.

Target audience: Power BI developers, data engineers, and technical BI professionals with interest in Microsoft Fabric or automated modeling.

Preferred session format: 60 minutes (including Q&A).

Technical requirements: internet connection for live demo (Jupyter Notebook / Azure Notebook), Power BI workspace access.
