We all see people at events or usergroups helping out, doing talks, workshops or support the event in other ways.

How do those people get there? And if I want to help out or speak at an event can I and where should I go?

These are all important questions that I will try to answer, by telling you my own route into volunteering, speaking at event and being on the organising committee of a number of events, but...

Beyond these question, there's is one that is often overlooked. We all have employers, but also for the self-employed, what can the community bring back to the company.

A lot of companies pay for employees to go to events, which is awesome for the employees as they can learn and progresse, but for this to be sustainable for the company we will tell you how your employer can benifit also from events wheter directly or indirectly.
