Value Creation is All You Need - Why building long lasting OSPO in Chinese corporations can be hard
OSPO has became a common denominator for open source compliance, practices, education, governance and many more. Having an OSPO would be critically important to a large corporation to be successful at open source. However, building OSPO might be easy, building long-lasting OSPO can be difficult, because the value creation need to be clear, measurable, which covers both the long term and short term business needs.
I've been working on technical strategy initiatives since joining Ant Group and personally built Ant Group's OSPO from Feb 2021. Though currently Ant Group has a full-fledged OSPO and open source growth team, the road leading to the current state has been bumpy. In this session, I'll share my learnings on:
1. Why initiating OSPO in China can be hard and how do we overcome this?
2. Why maintaining OSPO in China can be hard and what tactics and strategies we can leverage to overcome that?
3. Why the lessons might be useful to the global friends and partners.
