Roberto, Bob, and Me: Navigating the Beautiful Chaos of AuDHD

For years, I felt a constant internal tug-of-war without understanding why, until I discovered that I probably have AuDHD (Autism and ADHD). To make sense of my mind, I personified the two co-existing sides of myself: Roberto and Bob. Roberto represents my autistic side—he is highly controlled, intensely focused, thrives on routine, and dislikes sudden changes, much like a meticulous cat. Bob, on the other hand, is my ADHD side—an easily distracted, excitable ball of energy who thrives on chaos, loves learning new things, and leaves a bit of a mess in his wake, whom I consider to be a springer spaniel.

This session is an honest, deep dive into how Roberto and Bob manage to live under the same roof. I will share my personal journey of learning to recognize which character is driving at any given moment, and how these two seemingly opposing forces interact. Sometimes they clash in spectacular frustration, but more importantly, I will highlight the moments they work in harmony.

The ultimate goal of this session is to share lived experience and increase awareness about the nuanced reality of being AuDHD. By breaking down the complex dynamics of neurodivergence into the relatable stories of Roberto and Bob, this talk aims to foster empathy, spark meaningful conversations, and help others recognize and celebrate the diverse ways our brains operate.
