Session
Electrical Safety for Non-Electrical Workers Understanding Arc Flash and PPE Labels
This presentation raises safety awareness for non-electrical workers who work near electrical power systems and equipment. It covers key electrical hazards, how to read safety labels, and how labels and worker behavior may indicate risks to themselves or the municipality.
The session is divided into three parts:
Electrical Hazards – An overview of shocks, burns, and arc blasts, with real incidents to emphasize situational awareness.
Equipment Labels – How to interpret electrical equipment labels and identify what’s relevant to non-electrical workers.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – A look at electrical PPE, and how what electrical workers wear can signal danger levels.
Through visuals and practical examples, attendees learn to recognize hazards, understand safety measures, and support a safer workplace. Designed specifically for non-electrical staff, it stresses the importance of staying informed and alert around energized systems.
