Building Your Own k0smos, or How To Take Control Over the Control Plane
Separating the control and worker planes is how major Kubernetes services manage scale and complexity, but can we bring the same operating models to any platform engineering organization? It is not as difficult as it sounds, as long as you use the right tools. With k0smotron, we can host our control plane and distribute the worker plane to clusters in any cloud, at the edge, or on-prem.
In this session, we will go through how to set up your own Kubernetes-as-a-Service by hosting your control plane and integrating it with Cluster API for declarative provisioning of worker nodes. We will create our "mothership cluster" to host our control plane as pods, explore how we can host a resilient data backend, and explore how you enable your teams by utilizing GitOps to manage your Kubernetes environment across a diverse infrastructure ecosystem.
