From Vibe Coding to Spec-Driven Development: AI That Ships, Not Just Demos

AI can already sketch out an app from a chat prompt. That “vibe coding” style is fast, creative, and honestly kind of magic — but it falls apart when you try to ship it to production. Teams hit the same wall: inconsistent output, no tests, no ownership, surprise security holes, and code nobody understands or can safely change.

In this session, we’ll walk through Spec-Driven Development (SDD) — a disciplined way to use AI without giving up engineering standards. Using Spec Kit — an AI-assisted CLI workflow — you define the “rules of the game” first, then generate specs, plans, tasks, and finally implementation in a controlled, reviewable way. We’ll demo this end to end by building a small .NET app and show how the same flow can also be injected mid-project into an existing repo — not just greenfield.
