Many of you have participated in an agile team, it may have been painful at first but once things got clicking, you swore that you would never do things any other way. Others of you have read all the promises of agile and cannot wait to get started. What happens when you join a new team and their version of agile is not quite “agile”, it’s “`Agile·ish”? Given the numerous flavors of agile out there taught by coaches with varying levels of experience, it is a certainty that the agile your new team is using is different; but does it matter?

This is a story about how Ryan had to learn what truly defines an agile team and accept the things that are different but do not impact the desired outcome. This journey has been full circle going from large enterprise programs at Ford to a highly innovative small software incubator within Ford Mobility now at Ford Credit overseeing large agile transformations. Throughout his story, he will share practical questions to ask and actions to take so that you can get past your “agility score” and focus on the ultimate goal of satisfying your user with valuable software.
