### The Library: From Bookshelves to a Space for Discovery

**When you hear the word “Library”, what do you imagine?**
Books? Silence? Shelves?

**What if we imagined something different?**

This interactive workshop invites educators to rethink the traditional concept of the school library and explore how it can become a vibrant learning environment where students do more than simply read books. It can be a space where they discover themselves, develop their voices, build confidence, and connect learning with real-life experiences.

The workshop is inspired by the experience of **Al Ajyal Future Generations Library, which began in 2008**, offering a different model of what a library can be. Moving beyond the traditional concept of a place for books and reading, the library has evolved over the years into an interactive space that brings together reading, learning, culture, entertainment, and personal development, while providing young people with opportunities to engage with inspiring role models and enriching experiences.

The workshop explores how reading can extend beyond the book to become a powerful tool for learning, personal development, creativity, identity, and student engagement.

Participants will explore practical strategies for transforming the library into a student-centred space through interactive reading experiences, student-led activities, storytelling, inspiring role models, creative learning, and meaningful connections with the curriculum.

Through hands-on activities and collaborative challenges, educators will develop their own ideas for creating library experiences that encourage students to **read, participate, create, communicate, and discover who they are**.

The workshop ultimately asks one simple question:

**What if the library became not just a place students visit, but a place where learning comes alive?**
