In this session we will evaluate various API Protocols (gRPC, REST, MQTT), data formats (JSON, XML, Protocol Buffers, and YAML), and channels (HTTP 1-3, gRPC, WebSockets) - and discuss their pros and cons in varying scenarios. We will also evaluate how to pair adequate data formats and API protocols (HTTP/S, gRPC, gRPCweb, or Web Sockets). We will review various API use cases and map them with the right combination of data formats and channels for the best performance, scalability, and maintainability.
