TOGAF: To Otherwise Give All the Fucks

TOGAF can be a great framework—but let’s be honest: business leaders don’t care about TOGAF. They care about solving problems on time and under budget. This session takes a practical look at what TOGAF gives architects of all flavors—and what it doesn’t. We’ll explore the missing pieces: business acumen, relationship-building, influence, communication, and knowing when to ditch the framework and meet people where they are.

The message here is not that everyone should learn TOGAF. Far from it, hell, I'm not certified in it. It's far more important to apply to core principles in a meaningful way to get shit done with your stakeholders to connect strategy, business, information, technology, and delivery.

Learning objectives/takeaways:
-Explain what TOGAF is, what it offers us, and where it falls short in the real-world
-Recognize the collaboration, communication, and leadership skills we need beyond following a framework
-Apply strategies for partnering with business leaders who prioritize differently than you do
-Translate TOGAF principles into everyday leadership practices that you can start tomorrow
