Don't Forget The Humans

The experience of a guest is a major factor of what makes hospitality companies successful. After a decade spent in hospitality (even picking up a Master of Hospitality Administration along the way) guest experience considerations are ingrained in how I view solutions to problems. We can apply these view points not only to how we interact with code but the tools we use day to day in technical roles. When we re-frame how we view a "user" we can develop an empathy in all that we do that transforms how we view even the most mundane tasks and leads to better outcomes.

First presented at Nashville Women Programmers in April 2020. Targeted at anybody in tech. We tend to get so into the depth of our passions and can forget about the end users, people around us, and ourselves.
