A Python and a Viking King - How Computer Stuff Got Named

We use all sorts of strange words in the tech world, and you'd think they were all new words from the modern era, but surprisingly they aren't! You'd be astonished by just how many words we use in tech every day are actually older than the invention of computers themselves!

In this talk, I'm going to tell you all sorts of strange stories from ancient history, popular culture and other very strange places to show you where it is the words we use in our work lives actually come from.

These include:

* How "bugs" have nothing to do with insects
* The curious connection between a viking warlord, a hollywood starlet and modern computer tech
" What is a hacker? And what does it have to do with horses?
* Why is a developer nothing at all like a fajita?
* What is a C and why is it sharp?

All this, and much, much. more!
